Description
Carrots are a popular root vegetable originating from South Asia, specifically from the regions of Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan, renowned mainly for their high content of β-carotene. Nowadays, you can find them not only in Czech gardens but also growing wild in nature. They contain vitamin A, sugars, sterols, vitamins C, E, D, K, B vitamins, phospholipids, and minerals - potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, selenium, and iodine. The seeds of carrots yield high-quality essential oil due to their high content of essential oils. Primarily, the root and seeds are harvested, but the greens are also excellent for making delicious pesto.
Root harvesting: July - October.
Effects and Usage
Carrot juice and macerate have antioxidant, regenerative, and anti-inflammatory effects. They are suitable for all skin types, but especially for mature skin. They combat wrinkles and stretch marks and help heal minor skin injuries. They regenerate, tighten, nourish the skin, and assist with dry eczema. Carrot is often found as an ingredient in sunscreen products.
When taken internally, carrots support liver and kidney function, help with anemia, and strengthen the nerves. They have a diuretic effect and assist with urinary stones or rheumatic joint inflammation.
