Description

Lady's mantle is a perennial herb that can be found on the edges of forests and paths, in meadows, and even at higher altitudes. In the Czech Republic, up to 21 species of lady's mantle grow. Common lady's mantle has seven to nine-lobed leaves with fine hairs that often hold a droplet of water in their center in the morning, and inconspicuous yellow-green flowers. It contains tannins, bitter compounds, salicylic acid, essential oils, organic acids, and minerals. In herbalism, the entire above-ground part of the plant, including flowers and leaves, is used.

Harvesting: spring to autumn (flowers from April to June).

Effects and Uses

Common lady's mantle has disinfecting, healing, astringent, regenerative, and anti-inflammatory effects. It accelerates the healing of wounds or acne and suppresses bacterial or viral infections. It is also a universal women's herb that is used to support conception, increase milk production, during menopause, or as assistance with irregular menstrual cycles. You will most often find lady's mantle as part of healing cosmetic products, mouthwashes, sitz baths, or tea blends.
