Description
Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya or pitahaya, is an exotic fruit. It originally comes from the humid regions of Central America. However, its cultivation has gradually spread, particularly to South America, East and Southeast Asia.
These are edible fruits of cacti. In our region, three color variants are available: pink fruits with white flesh, yellow with white, and purple with red flesh. The flesh contains small black seeds, which are also edible. Pitahaya is not only delicious but also healthy, which is why it is often considered a "superfood."
Effects and Usage
Pitahaya primarily contains water and is rich in iron, calcium, and phosphorus. It is abundant in vitamins C and B. Pitahaya has antioxidant properties, positively affects bones, and also has detoxifying effects. Additionally, it strengthens the immune system and has a positive impact on the cardiovascular system. The seeds in the pulp are a high-quality source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
