Description
Common myrtle is an evergreen shrub with dark green leaves and white flowers surrounded by stamens. You surely know myrtle sprigs as part of wedding decorations, but its uses are much broader, with a history dating back to ancient Greece and Rome. In our conditions, myrtle is grown as a houseplant or balcony plant. The leaves of myrtle yield a distinctly fragrant essential oil.
Effects and Uses
Common myrtle has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, soothing, and antifungal properties. Due to its healing effects, it is particularly suitable for oily skin with acne. It also helps with gum inflammation or hemorrhoids. It eliminates body odors.
In aromatherapy, it positively affects the psyche, calms, and improves concentration.
