Description
Melaleuca ericifolia, commonly known as the paperbark tree, is a plant from the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) and the genus Melaleuca, native to southeastern Australia. It often grows in swampy areas, whose drainage and clearing have reduced the species' abundance, particularly around Port Philip Bay near Melbourne.
Effects and Uses
Just like tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), this species has significant antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties, and it has a very pleasant scent.
