Description
St. John's Wort is a perennial herb with golden-yellow leaves, primarily growing in sunny locations at lower and mid altitudes. You can recognize it by the red liquid (hypericin) that oozes from its flowers when crushed. In ancient Greece, this medicinal plant was known for its magical power and used as a protection against diseases and curses. It contains up to 150 different substances, including naphthodiantrones, phloroglucinols, flavonoids, xanthones, tannins, procyanidins, phenolic compounds, anthraquinone derivatives, and essential oils.

Effects and Use
St. John's Wort has healing, soothing, analgesic, and antibiotic properties. It is suitable for all skin types, including very sensitive skin. It helps to treat atopic eczema, minor injuries, and other skin issues. It calms irritated skin. It also has a positive effect on bruises, swelling, and contusions.
When taken internally, it has mild sedative effects and is mainly known for its action against depression and anxiety.
