Description

Zinc oxide is a white powder that occurs naturally as the mineral zincite. The first use of zinc oxide (as an ore) dates back to ancient times when zinc was used in an alloy with copper as brass. Today, it is used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and also in painting as the pigment zinc white.

Effects and Uses

Zinc oxide has astringent (tightening), antiseptic, and soothing properties. It is suitable for all skin types, especially for problematic skin with acne, eczema, and rashes, which it helps to heal, as well as for children's skin. It also acts as a preventive measure against skin irritation and lightly dries oozing wounds. You are surely familiar with zinc ointment. In cosmetic products, it also serves as a natural white pigment or a mineral protective filter in natural sunscreens.
