Description

Beeswax is a natural product that we owe to the worker bees. The wax structure, composed of hexagonal cells, is used by bees for storing honey and pollen, for the development of bee larvae, or as thermal insulation. It contains up to 284 different components, with the most significant being monoesters and diesters of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons, free fatty acids, and hydroxy polyesters. Beeswax has a yellow color, a solid structure, and melts at temperatures around 62-65 °C.

Effects and Usage

Beeswax has anti-inflammatory, nourishing, moisturizing, healing, and regenerative effects. It reduces swelling and positively affects minor injuries, inflammations, or burns. It creates a gentle protective film on the skin, preventing it from drying out and cracking. In cosmetic products, it provides optimal hardness and structure, acting as a stabilizer and emulsifier. Beyond cosmetics, beeswax can be used for making candles, waxed cloths, or as an impregnation for leather footwear.
