Description
Chamomile is one of the most well-known herbs, and for some of us, the scent of chamomile tea may evoke childhood memories. This plant, with flowers featuring a yellow center and narrow white petals, feathery leaves on a branched stem, and a characteristic aroma, can be found growing wild in fields and forest meadows. Due to its popularity in herbalism, it is often cultivated in private gardens. Chamomile essential oil is distinctly blue, hence its other name - blue chamomile. It contains essential oils with azulenes and proazulenes, sesquiterpenes, flavonoids, bitters, tannins, and fatty acids.
Blooming period: May - September.
Effects and Usage
Chamomile has calming, anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, astringent, and analgesic effects. It acts as a natural antibiotic. It is suitable for washing wounds, treating weeping rashes and hemorrhoids, constricts blood vessels, and has a healing effect on the skin, soothes allergic reactions, and combats itching. It has analgesic properties and prevents scar formation. It also works wonderfully on hair, leaving it airy and shiny. For blonde hair, it helps enhance its light color.
When taken internally, it helps with painful menstruation, has a positive effect on the nervous system, and acts against digestive and respiratory issues and inflammation.
