Description
Tea Tree is a bushy tree that grows to a height of about 5 meters. It grows wild in the swamps and wetlands of Australia. The name "tea tree" is derived from its T-shaped appearance. The word "tea" is actually a misnomer, but it was originally used to make tea. Essential oil is extracted from its leaves through distillation, and it is most commonly used in aromatherapy, cosmetics, and is often a part of home first aid kits. Its scent is sharp, penetrating, and fresh.
Effects and Uses
Tea Tree essential oil has antibacterial, antiseptic, antifungal, disinfectant, and antibiotic properties. It eliminates unpleasant odors, making it a popular addition to deodorants, foot balms, natural repellents, and toothpaste or mouthwashes. It is suitable for oily and problematic skin. It heals acne and minor wounds, soothes insect bites and skin infections. It also works effectively on vaginal inflammations, warts, or ulcers. Tea Tree also has preservative effects, which extend the shelf life of cosmetic products when used.
In aromatherapy, it opens the airways, calms, clears the mind, and improves concentration. It is not intended for internal use.
