Beautiful scents and therapeutic effects with Almara Soap aromatherapy
The new Almara Soap Aromatherapy product line offers original blends of 100% essential oils. Their composition is designed to promote better sleep and induce calmness or a meditative mood, while also being able to uplift, energize, and assist with colds and other health issues. What exactly is aromatherapy, how are essential oils created, and how should it be used correctly?

Aromatherapy means treatment by scent: aroma – scent, therapy – treatment. It is a form of alternative medicine that uses essential oils and other fragrant components to change the mind, mood, cognitive processes, and health.
Plant Extracts
The main product used is pure and 100% essential oils obtained from plants, parts of which contain extracts that can be extracted. Extracts are volatile, often flammable, oil-like substances or mixtures of substances that are insoluble in water. They are often fragrant and have a pungent taste. They are very volatile even at low temperatures. Extracts are produced by plants as part of secondary metabolism, serving purposes such as protection against herbivores or attracting pollinators.
Extracts are mostly liquid and colorless; they may solidify and darken in the air. Some extracts are naturally colored. For example, clove oil typically has a yellow color. Blue-colored extracts are rich in azulenes, which are found in chamomile.
Extraction of extracts from plants is most commonly obtained from flowers, leaves, stems, roots, bark, fruits, and resins. The most common and traditional form is steam distillation and pressing.
Essential Oils
The extraction of extracts results in essential oil. In steam distillation, a byproduct is hydrosol, or floral water, which you may also know from the Almara Soap range. Hydrosols are gentler than essential oils; therefore, unlike essential oils, they have no contraindications and are suitable even for babies and pregnant women. They are used as facial toners, cleansing waters, as a base for oil-based makeup removers, facial oils, as the aqueous phase in emulsions, and other cosmetic products. Their use in gastronomy is also traditional – they are used in beverages, desserts, etc.
Essential oils are a concentrate of the active components that the original plant contained, but they are, of course, many times stronger. For example, consider peppermint and cinnamon. To prepare peppermint tea, you can use a handful of dried herbs, whereas just a few drops of essential oil have great potency, the same goes for cinnamon bark versus essential cinnamon oil. The latter is among the strongest essential oils and should be used with caution. It can even burn the skin.
Thus, essential oils have similar effects to the plants from which they are extracted, or they may be the only way to utilize the extraordinary effects of the plant for a specific purpose (in our case, cosmetics and diffusion into the space).
Aromatherapy in Cosmetics
Essential oils are used in cosmetic products, where they provide not only fragrance but can also treat when used correctly for the specific skin type. They support the care of dry or oily skin, are effective in combating acne, cellulite, dandruff, help soothe the skin after insect bites, and have antibacterial and antifungal effects.
Aromatherapy in Space
Another way, and finally we get to the main topic, is the diffusion of essential oils into the space.
A few drops of oil wonderfully scent the air in the entire room, and by inhaling, one gains its beneficial effects.
Essential oils are applied using sprayers, diffusers, and aroma lamps, in inhalation sticks, and you can also find them in saunas, where they are added to buckets of water that are poured over heated stones.
Inhaling essential oils is an excellent way to create a pleasant and calming atmosphere at home or in the office using 100% natural ingredients. Just a few drops and you can enjoy a scent that helps you relax and improve your mood. Essential oils can also help in the fight against stress and anxiety or when dealing with a cold. They may have aphrodisiac and stimulating effects.
Aroma Lamps
The traditional way we have known for decades for diffusing essential oils is the aroma lamp. Aroma lamps are made entirely of ceramics, metal, and glass-ceramics, etc., and consist of a bowl into which water is poured and essential oil is added, along with a base for a tea light. The heat from the candle warms the water, causing it to evaporate, and the oil begins to scent the space.
The advantage of lamps is that they create warm light and a cozy atmosphere thanks to the candle. The disadvantage is that if the bowl with water is small, the water evaporates quickly, and the oil begins to burn, so it is necessary to replenish the water during the burning of the candle. An open flame is also dangerous, especially in households with children or pets.
Aroma Diffusers
Aroma diffusers are modern devices that are more expensive to purchase but are safer and more practical. There are various materials to choose from, durable plastic, cozy wood, or elegant but fragile glass. Aroma diffusers can also be equipped with LED lighting, ranging from one color to the entire color spectrum.
Aroma diffusers disperse essential oils using electric energy. The devices can be ultrasonic – they vibrate the water so that the scent and water molecules react together, releasing the scent into the air, or electric, where the scent is blown into the room without moistening it. From an ultrasonic aroma diffuser, a scented cold mist rises into the room. In an electric diffuser, only the scent is released.
Sprayers
Essential oils can be dripped into water or alcohol and dispersed using a sprayer. This is a suitable method when you want to scent spaces intensely and immediately. Such a sprayer can also be made at home.
Essential Oils in Almara Soap Products
We use essential oils in soaps and cosmetics, and we love them. Not only for their scents but also for their exceptional effects.
“I can't be without a bottle of tea tree oil at home. I use it on pimples, mosquito bites, any ‘blemishes’, as a disinfectant for abrasions, scratches, etc. I have great experiences with it for fungal infections, where it works immediately,” says Veronika, owner of Almara Soap.
“I know that essential oils work. I love their scents, especially eucalyptus, patchouli, orange, grapefruit, and lavender. At Almara Soap, we intentionally use essences that are not rare and expensive. Although jasmine, lemon balm, or rose are beautiful, they would unnecessarily increase the cost of the products, and ‘ordinary’ oils can do a great job too,” she adds.
We use oils not only for their scents but also for their effects on the skin. We carefully select and combine them according to skin type and desired effects. You won't find combinations of oils with drying effects on dry and sensitive skin just because they smell nice. They must always support the product formulation and work!
Almara Soap Aromatherapy
“I have always been into scents and perfumes; we always had candles, scented sprays, and – an aroma lamp at home. I started with ordinary ceramic lamps, and now I use an electric diffuser, and I must say I have it on almost daily throughout the year. Using essential oils in space is the cleanest and most natural way to scent the home, and in an environmentally conscious household, it should replace unhealthy and non-ecological products. We have been planning to include a ‘home collection’ in our range for a long time; it was just a matter of time and opportunity when we would launch it,” adds Veronika.
And here it is! The Almara Soap Aromatherapy line contains 5 essential oil blends for daily needs. These original blends of essential oils are primarily intended for use in aroma lamps or diffusers and in saunas. However, you can use them according to your imagination and needs – in a radiator evaporator, in inhalation sticks, in sprayers, and in the case of Easy Breath, even for inhalation when dealing with a cold.

The topic of essential oils and aromatherapy as a whole is very extensive, and we will definitely address it again sometime in the future.
